The Book Haven opened on February 1, 2016. We have the inventory of the old Paperback City in Prescott, AZ and will still honor their credits and gift certificates.
The Book Haven owes its existence to the generosity and efforts of a number of people, particularly Vaun Skellenger (who built new bookshelves for the enterprise), Steve Sylvester, Donny Miller, Laura Russell, Beth and Mark McCormick and Kathy Wells.
We would also like to thank the estate of Minnie Evanoff for their generous donation to the Cooking and Art sections of the store.
The Book Haven is owned by Leigh Simmons Skellenger of Prescott Valley, Arizona.
It's been a long road to get here, but at last I can wallow in books for a living!
In the course of my life I have been a retail sales clerk, a fast food worker, a delivery driver, a grocery store cashier, a soldier, a high school teacher, an adult education instructor and a veterans employment representative. During every stage of my life, I possessed an ample and growing collection of books. The military movers were NOT fond of me.
I love a wide variety of books and read nearly every genre. I have a particular fondness for Science Fiction, Fantasy, Mysteries (especially historicals), Literature and History. I also enjoy reading material in Spanish to maintain my skills.
